About Run for Africa
Run for Africa (RFA) is an event of STILL RUNNING. In addition to improving personal health, RFA's 5k run/walk is designed as a fundraiser and awareness campaign to support K-12 education in Liberia. Founded in the 1800s by freed slaves from the United States, this tiny West African country of about four million people is recovering from a 14-year civil war (1989-2003), and the 2014 devastating Ebola virus crises.
Proceeds from RFA benefits the Liberian Education Initiative: African School of the Future (LEI). Expected to open in 2017, LEI is a proposed model K-12 school environment comprised of a medical clinic, a sustainable development/renewable energy platform, and a Christ-centered applied culture of grace habitat/incubator.
